The RDGA’s Junior Membership program – which includes membership in Youth On Course – offers the perfect opportunity to get kids, ages 18 and under, the chance to play golf for $5 or less at thousands of courses, while also providing programs for personal growth!
Now entering its fifth season, the RDGA’s Junior Membership program has been gaining momentum every year since its inception in 2020. Beginning with 264 members in our first year, RDGA Junior Membership has since grown six-fold and now totals 1,665 members as we enter the 2025 season.
But what is it about Youth on Course and the RDGA Junior Membership that makes it such a great opportunity for Rochester-area junior golfers?
Here’s what is included with an annual RDGA Junior Membership:
- Access to Youth On Course: RDGA Junior Members pay only $5 to play a round of golf at more than 15 participating Rochester-area Youth on Course facilities AND 2,500+ golf courses across the United States!
- An official USGA Handicap Index
- Eligibility to play in RDGA Events
That sounds great – but what’s in it for local clubs and golf courses that participate in the Youth On Course program?
Here’s how our local partner clubs can benefit from participating in Youth On Couse:
- Additional revenue for the club. Participating RDGA Member Clubs receive an additional $5 per round from the RDGA Foundation that matches the $5 Junior Members pay for each round played at Youth On Course facilities. In 2024, this additional stipend resulted in nearly $30,000 sent to 15 regional clubs – thanks to 5,886 rounds played by juniors!
- Growing the game of golf through increased play by juniors. Golf is often called the “game of a lifetime” – and Youth On Course participants who play local participating courses are the avid golfers (and potential members) of the future.
- YOC tee times help fill tee sheets during down times of play. The tee times available to Youth On Course participants are set by the golf courses, typically during periods of lower activity when the course would otherwise have open times.
