Defending RDGA Women’s Champion Jenna Hoecker receives the rules of competition on the first tee at Midvale Country Club from RDGA official Jack Fox, left, along with Kristin Powers, right, and Sara Eichelberger, center.

The first round of the 2015 RDGA Women’s Championship Danielle E. Downey Memorial concluded on Friday, July 10, in much the same way as it began: with three players in the same group looking to come away with the title in Saturday’s second and final tround.

Defending champion Jenna Hoecker of Brook-Lea Country Club teed off Friday morning in the final pairing of the day at Midvale Country Club – one that featured the three most recent RDGA Women’s Championship winners, including Kristin Powers of Oak Hill Country Club and Sara Eichelberger of Brook-Lea.

The three rivals continued to battle for the lead throughout the first round on Friday; first Hoecker took a two-shot lead, then later, Powers took a two shot lead. But by the end of the day, Hoecker and Powers were tied, each posting rounds of 4-over-par 79. Eichelberger finished the day one shot back at 5-over-par 80.

The final round of the RDGA Women’s Championship begins on Saturday at 10 a.m., immediately following the final group of the RDGA District Championship for men. Find the final round pairings by clicking HERE.
