Ever wonder how you would react under tournament conditions?
Returning to the RDGA Tournament Schedule in 2018 are the popular RDGA Play Days; events open to ALL amateur golfers – men and women, ages 18 and above – with an active USGA GHIN Handicap Index through an Rochester District Golf Association Member Club. If you’ve never played in an actual golf tournament before – or if you’ve always wanted to play some of the best courses in the area – then RDGA Play Days are for you!
RDGA Play Days are designed to be a fun, yet competitive day for golfers of all ability levels. Registration for Play Day events is $85 per person and includes use of the club’s practice facility; a cart and 18 holes of stroke play at 100-percent handicap; as well as prizes by flight and hors d’ouvres after the tournament. Contestants are welcome to request pairing in foursomes with friends who are also registered to play. Each event will have two Men’s Flights and one or two Women’s Flights; prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each flight, in the form of Pro Shop gift certificates at the host club.
ALSO – a fun added feature for this year’s Play Days includes LIVE scoring updates, using the new USGA Tournament Management software, in which players will be able to use their smart phones to record (and track) hole-by-hole scores during the event! - RIDGEMONT COUNTRY CLUB, Monday, April 30. The 2018 RDGA Play Day Seies opens on April 30, visiting one of the Rochester area’s top private clubs, Ridgemont, which celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2018! Ridgemont has been a staple of the Rochester community since its inception – and most recently hosted the RDGA District Championships in 2016. Join us at Ridgemont for this season-opening Play Day!

- PENFIELD COUNTRY CLUB, Monday, May 21. The 2018 RDGA Play Day Seies continued on May 21, when Penfield Country Club hosted the year’s second Play Day. Penfield has been one of the Rochester area’s top private clubs for the past 60 years and remains one of architect “Pete” Craig’s most popular designs. A field of 53 golfers joined us for this mid-Spring Play Day on May 21!

- SODUS BAY HEIGHTS GOLF CLUB, Monday, July 9. Extend your July 4th holiday by joining us for this mid-season Play Day at scenic Sodus Bay Heights! Visit the club where Rochester’s Robert Trent Jones began his career as a head golf professional in 1924 before becoming a world-class golf course architect – and enjoy a relaxing Summer day with cool breezes off Lake Ontario!

- BROOK-LEA COUNTRY CLUB, Monday, September 24. This historic westside club was designed by the great Donald Ross (one of six courses in the Rochester area) and first opened in 1926. Site of the annual LPGA Symetra Tour, Brook-Lea hosts our first of two Fall Play Days of 2018, where golfers will enjoy an early Autumn day on one of the area’s most scenic and historic clubs.

- IRONDEQUOIT COUNTRY CLUB, Monday, October 1. Having celebrated its’ centennial in 2016, Irondequoit was also designed by famed Scottish architect Donald Ross – and will host the season-ending RDGA Play Day of 2018. Golfers will get to experience the one-time host of the PGA Tour’s Nationwide Tour at the peak of its’ fall colors.
