2014 RDGA Junior Championships Decided In Match Play Finals at Mendon Golf Club

Gunnar Doyle, 2014 RDGA Junior Boys Championship winner, will represent the RDGA – along with Zach Ottman, Christian Chapman and Evan Gaesser – in the Williamson Cup tournament in Quebec, Canada, on August 11 and 12.

On Sunday, August 3, the winners were decided in the 2014 Rochester District Golf Association Junior Championships at Mendon Golf Club, as the final matches were contested in the Junior (ages 15 to 17), Sub-Junior (ages 12-14) Championships for Boys and Girls, as well as the final round of the Pee Wee (ages 7 to 11) Championship for Boys.

• In the RDGA Junior Boys Championship, Gunnar Doyle of Mendon Golf Club successfully defended his title on his home course in a 3-and-2 decision over Evan Gaesser of Brook-Lea Country Club. “It was fun,” Doyle said of winning his second consecutive District Junior Championship title. “We had a good match out there today. I really enjoy match play – I also won two Sub-Junior titles before I played in the Junior Championship, so this is actually the fourth RDGA title I’ve won.” As the finalists in the Boys Junior Championship, both Doyle and Gaesser also earn invitations to represent the RDGA in the Williamson Cup later this summer, along with Zach Ottman of Locust Hill and Christian Chapman of Ravenwood.
