The Rochester District Golf Association is excited to announce, after working closely with Oak Hill Country Club, that the 2021 RDGA District Championship John H. Ryan Jr. Memorial will be hosted at Oak Hill next July – with the third and final round being conducted on the club’s East Course, the famed and newly restored Donald Ross masterpiece.In conjunction with this announcement – and also working closely with Brook-Lea Country Club – the 2020 RDGA District Championship will now be hosted by Brook-Lea on July 17, 18 and 19. This year’s Championship had originally been scheduled to be played on the West Course at Oak Hill a week later, from July 23 to 25.
“The Oak Hill leadership has diligently worked with the RDGA in navigating all the changes due to COVID-19, and even further stepped up in agreeing to have the final day of the 2021 Championship on the East Course. They have been so supportive and generous in wanting to share the new East with our community” said RDGA Executive Director Tim Vangellow.
With this year’s RDGA District Championship moving to Brook-Lea Country Club, RDGA members will have the opportunity to experience another one of Rochester’s original Donald Ross-designed gems – one that also opened in 1926, the same year that Oak Hill’s East Course opened.
One of the original founding member clubs of the RDGA, Brook-Lea has hosted the RDGA District Championship 11 times – the last time more than 10 years ago, when a young Gavin Hall captured the first of three RDGA Championship titles in 2009.
“We are grateful to the membership at Brook-Lea for their willingness to host the Championship this year. It’s going to be very exciting!” said Vangellow.
Registration for the 2020 RDGA District Championship John H. Ryan Jr. Memorial continues to be open for exempt players through June 23 – while registration for all other players remains open for the two RDGA District Championship Qualifiers scheduled for June 24 at Reservoir Creek Golf Club and June 28 at Chili Country Club. (The field for the Chili Qualifier is currently full, but we are accepting entries to be placed on a waitlist).
