The ForeSight Junior Golf Program of Rochester is a brand new concept and initiative developed by the RDGA Foundation Inc., to bring more young people to golf, and to grow the game in our area.

ForeSight is a collaboration between the Foundation, the Rochester District Golf Association, physical education teachers and golf coaches from area Section V schools and the Monroe County Parks Department – each of which will be working together to implement this groundbreaking program.

The three components of this innovative pilot program are:

1. Provide selected middle schools from Section V with an Introductory Golf Program and Equipment for physical education classes, so that golf can be integrated into regular class curriculum.

2. Work with physical education teachers to select students from their Introductory Golf Programs who have apparent interest in golf and award them with passes for Unlimited Summer Golf at the three Monroe County Parks Department golf courses, located at Churchville, Durand Eastman and Genesee Valley Parks.

3. Provide those students that are selected with lessons in the golf swing, rules and etiquette, equipment, practice facilities and fun playing opportunities, and offer beginning golf competitions at the 3 County courses.

The RDGA Foundation Inc. will pay for the Introductory Golf Program and Equipment (approximately $3,000 per school), and will pay for the Summer Golf Passes ($150 per junior), which have been provided by the Monroe County Parks Department at a reduced rate in a collaboration to benefit Rochester golfers and the County courses. The RDGA and the Monroe County Parks Department will work together to teach the young golfers to play and enjoy the game at the courses. Like so many of us did as youngsters, the goal is to have them fall in love with the game and ultimately become golfers for life.

In order to grow the program in Rochester the RDGA will be seeking sponsorship and donors. To be a part of this great new program, please contact RDGA Executive Director Tim Vangellow – by phone, at 585-292-5950, or by email, to: timvangellow@rdga.org – for more information, and to become part of growing the great game of golf!

The RDGA Foundation Inc. is recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, dedicated to the support and growth of the game of golf in the Rochester aea through the development of its junior golf initiatives.
