Junior/Adult
Championship
Beginning with the 2007 Junior/Adult
tournament, the Rochester District Golf
Association has agreed to invite the head golf
professionals of its member clubs to play in the
Junior/Adult Tournament, an 18 hole modified
Chapman format. The 2007 Tournament will be held
at Lima Country Club, Monday, August 6, 2007.
After receiving several inquiries from area
professionals with children, the RDGA Board of
Directors unanimously agreed to encourage
participation in this popular event with
children. The head pros will be limited to
playing with a son, daughter, or grandchild from
their immediate family. The ages of the juniors
may be from 12-17 as of July 31. To further
encourage professionals who wish to play with
their children, the RDGA will try to avoid
future scheduling of this event on Monday's,
typically the day when the professionals compete
in their own WNYPGA competitions.
The Junior/Adult Tournament has become a
popular event for Juniors and Adults alike. The
Two Person teams may be a junior of either
gender (age 12-17) and an adult of either gender
(30 years or older) from the same RDGA club.
They do not have to be related, only members at
the same club. The various flights will be
determined by age and gender with the winners in
each flight determined by the 18th hole lowest
gross score using to modified Chapman format.
In the modified Chapman format, each partner
plays from the appropriate tee, based upon their
age and gender. Each partner then plays his/her
partner's ball. Then one ball is selected to
finish the hole by alternating shots.
The entry fee of $55 per team includes prizes
in each flight by age and gender along with
lunch for everyone. The field is limited to te
first 80 teams that register to play. Online
registration is now available at
www.rdga.org.
If anyone has registration difficulty, please
call Don Neal at 425-7432 immediately. Any other
questions should be directed to Fred Lapple,
Tournament Chairman, at 269-1584 or the RDGA
Office at
292-5950.
