Dominic Bozzelli Wins RDGA Match Play at Midvale
Country Club
Rochester, New York May 19, 2008
– In what could be considered one of the strongest fields in a long time,
Dominic Bozzelli won the 2008 RDGA match play in convincing style. He beat
perennial winner Jim Scorse in the finals, 4 and 3 and had only one tight
contest throughout the competition when he beat Stuart Harris of Penfield
Country Club in extra holes, 1-up.

Bozzelli, of Locust Hill Country Club,
has been at the top of many Junior Tournaments throughout the Rochester District
and New York State. But this was his tournament and was able to put everything
together at the right time to finish on top of this grueling three day event.
The competitors had to play 36 holes on Friday, 36 holes on Saturday and then
finish up with 18 holes on Sunday.
Throughout the tournament, Midvale
Country Club held up well in spite of cold and wet conditions. Tournament
Director Mike Sorce praised the folks at Midvale especially Club Pro Mike Kiel
and his staff for their gracious hospitality. “We appreciate Mike’s efforts,”
said Sorce. “And we thank the membership of Midvale for giving up their course
over the weekend.”
Bozzelli, joins a long list of prominent
Rochester golfers who have won this event. As a 17 year old junior at McQuaid
Jesuit High School, Dominic will have many more opportunities to vie for this
championship, one that invites only the 32 best golfers in the Rochester
District.
