Rochester, NY – March 9, 2006 – The Rochester
District Golf Association’s Men and Junior tournament schedule has been
finalized for the 2006 season and one large change has been made. The

May 19-21 as the first major tournament of 2006. Oak Hill Country Club is the
site of this year’s event that will host the 32 top point achievers from the
2005 season. Dr. James Mason, the winner of last year’s Match Play
Championship, will be given the first seed and the other 31 top point-getters

Regardless of Handicap
With the exception of the Match-Play championship, the John
H. Ryan Jr. Memorial, the Senior/Super Senior and the Junior Boys & Girls
Championships, RDGA tournaments do not exclude anyone by virtue of skill level.
All the tournaments are flighted by a player’s handicap index, allowing every
golfer of varying ability to compete against other players of similar skills.
“This is a great opportunity for those men and junior golfers who are looking to
compete at a higher level,” said RDGA President Jim Cook. “It also gives many
golfers the chance to play different golf courses, including some of the better
private clubs in the area.”
Junior Tournaments Offer Great Experience for Boy and
Girl Golfers
There are many opportunities for the youth golfer to
participate competitively throughout the 2006 RDGA junior golf season. Golfers
of every level and every age can have a fun experience playing against their
peers from all over the region. At the junior championship level, boys and
girls up to 18 years of age have created some memorable golf moments as they
competed their way to the next level. Many, who have gone on to play golf in
college and even in the pro ranks, have their names inscribed on RDGA junior
trophies.
