The Scholarship Committee of the RDGA concluded its personal interviews of 12 applicants on July 14, 2011. A total of five scholarships worth $2,000 each were awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Since the RDGA Scholarship Program was initiated in the early 1980's, more than 214 collegebound young men and women have received assistance totaling more than $203,000. Recipients are limited to one award to help start their programs in higher education. This policy offers more young people the opportunity to benefit from the RDGA Scholarship Program.

The Scholarship Committee was impressed with the overall quality of the applicant pool and noted the range of interests and community service performed by the applicants. Academically, the applicants were outstanding. It was a pleasure to personally interview each applicant to gain a better perspective of their individual qualities and personalities.
The recipients selected for the 2011-2012 RDGA Scholarship Awards represent a variety of member clubs. The colleges/universities and the intended academic programs also show a great range of geographic and academic interest.

The 2011-2012 RDGA Scholarship Committee included Jim Cook, Larry Faulkner, Bill Thaney Sr. and Richard Wood. Special thanks to Mike Sorce, Joe Valvo, Dennis Olbrich, and Dan Overbeck for all of their assistance. The RDGA appreciates the time and interest of these gentlemen to enable the scholarship process to be conducted in a consistent and equitable manner.

The RDGA salutes each applicant for their high level of academic achievement and significant contributions to their schools, communities and families. The RDGA is extremely proud of each applicant and wishes each continued success as they commence their programs in higher education this fall.
