In just his sixth start as a PGA Tour rookie, Rochester native Dominic Bozzelli completed a fifth-place finish at the 2017 CareerBuilder Challenge on Sunday, January 22 in LaQuinta, California for his best showing to date on Tour.

Bozzelli – a brand ambassador for RDGA Corporate Partner Power Management and a two-time RDGA Match Play champion – posted rounds of 64-67-69-71 to finish at 17-under-par 271 in the CareerBuilder Challenge, winning $232,000 for his fifth-place finish, along with 110 FedEx Cup points. He is currently ranked 65th on Tour – just ahead of Branden Grace and just behind Rory McIlroy.

Bozzelli opened the tournament with an 8-under-par 64 on the always-tough Stadium Course at PGA West to take the first round lead on Thursday. After Saturday’s third round, he was just one shot off the lead going into the final round.

”I’ve been riding a hot putter these last couple days,” Bozzelli told the Associated Press on Saturday.

After an up and down start to the final round on Sunday, Bozzelli birdied the final two holes – including a 36-footer at 18 – to finish alone in fifth place.

It was his first top-20 of the season and ended a streak of three consecutive cuts. The finish vaulted the Auburn alum 99 spots in the FedExCup standings.
