Ridgemont Hosts Latest RDGA Play Day

Golfers were treated to warm, summer-like conditions as Ridgemont Country Club in Greece hosted the most recent event on the Rochester District Golf Association’s Play Day schedule on Monday, June 30.

Located on Rochester’s west side, Ridgemont is a classic northeast parkland style private country club that provides a challenging test of golf for players of all levels and has played host to the RDGA District Championship nine times since 1935. The RDGA wishes to thank Ridgemont Country Club, its staff and members for being perfect hosts for the second RDGA Play Day event of the year.

A casual competition was held for three divisions in Monday’s event – Men’s, Senior Men’s (ages 55 and over) and Women’s – and within each division, gross and net scores were recorded.

Tying for first place in the Women’s Net competition were Lisa Mulvaney of Locust Hill Country Club and Sara Tartaglia of Irondequoit Country Club – both posting handicap-adjusted, even-par 73s for the day. Debbie Harper of the EWGA was third with a 74. Winning first place in the Women’s Gross score competition was Jenny Ford of Irondequoit Country Club with a 90.

There was also a two-way tie for first place in the Men’s Net score division, with Dave Nichols and Bud Klafehn – both from Durand Eastman Golf Club – posting adjusted scores of 3-under-par 69. And in the Men’s Gross score division, there was another a two-way tie, with Duong Truong of Caledonia Country Club and Michael Zambito of Churchville Golf Club each posting scores of 79.

In the Senior Net division, Keith Garceau of Blue Heron Hills Golf Club posted an adjusted score of 10-under-par 62 to win the competition. Alan Montante of Webster Golf Club finished in second place, two shots back with a score of 8-under-par 64. In the Senior Gross competition, Garceau also finished in first place with a raw score of 75; followed in second place by Ray Mack of Genesee Valley Golf Club with a 77.

The RDGA would like to thank all the golfers who came out to participate in the second Play Day event of the season at Ridgemont. The next scheduled RDGA Play Day will be hosted by Mendon Golf Club on July 28; followed by Clifton Springs Country Club on August 11; Brook-Lea Country Club on September 8; and Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club on October 6.
